Toronto's $3.5 billion LRT finally opens December 7, 2025 after years of delays - but there's a catch. Limited hours until Spring 2026.

After years of delays and a price tag of $3.585 billion, Toronto's Line 6 Finch West LRT is finally opening on December 7, 2025. But before you celebrate, there's a catch - the line will only run until 10pm.

The new light rail line was originally supposed to open in 2021. It's now four years late.

LRT Train at Station

The Catch: Limited Hours

Here's what the TTC isn't putting in the headlines:

  • Monday-Saturday: Trains run 6am to 10pm
  • Sundays: Trains run 7:30am to 10pm
  • Buses replace trains from 10pm to 1am - every 10 minutes
  • This "soft opening" lasts until Spring 2026

The TTC says this follows recommendations from the Ottawa LRT public inquiry, giving maintenance crews time to monitor the system. Translation: they're not 100% confident it's ready.
